Outreach

The KCS Forward Foundation supports programs within the Kettering City Schools and mission-aligned partners by facilitating private gifts (monetary and in-kind) that enhance the positive educational experience for Kettering City Schools students, staff and families.

To support these community outreach programs or discuss other ways to engage with our mission, please contact Jessica Stickel at KCSForwardFoundation@gmail.com.

  • Fairmont KAP

The Kettering Alternative Program (KAP) affords students the opportunity to earn their diploma from Fairmont High School in a non-traditional setting. The KAP curriculum and activities aim to improve the mental and physical health of students through a focus on holistic education and relationship building, while engaging students in varied learning opportunities. Partnership with the KCS Forward Foundation allows businesses and organizations to support the growing KAP Farm and service learning experiences through grants, private gifts and donations of supplies and services.

  • Kettering STEAM

Kettering STEAM is a thriving partner of the KCS Forward Foundation. With STEAM education, teachers instruct using “Strategies that Engage All Minds” to maximize learning outcomes for all students. STEAM has the support of local businesses, individual community members and private foundations to be able to impact student learning through creative, real-world experiences.

  • KLA Community Cupboards

The KCS Forward Foundation partners with the 2023 Kettering Leadership Academy tp fund Community Cupboards. These Community Cupboards provide shelf stable food items, personal hygiene products, school supplies and other seasonal needs for Kettering families. The first Community Cupboard is located at Oakview Elementary School with more locations to follow in Spring 2024.

  • Supper Club

The Fairmont Supper Club is designed to create a monthly gathering where selected Firebird students and adults interact in a dinner setting. Supper Club gives students an opportunity to learn how to network with peers and adults while building relationships that will improve performance in school. Generous in-kind donations from businesses along with gifts from individuals and community organizations have allowed for rapid growth of this program.

  • Hope Squad

Hope Squad is a school-based, peer-to-peer mental health and suicide-prevention program in which students are trained to recognize warning signs and get help for peers who are struggling. The KCS Forward Foundation recognizes the need for mental health support for students and staff in the Kettering City Schools and is proud to facilitate gifts to support the prevention, education and community-building efforts of the Hope Squads at Van Buren, Kettering Middle School and Fairmont High School.
